I like reading books that are about history, and these don’t necessarily have to be actual history books. For example I am just starting on reading Goodbye To Berlin by Christopher Isherwood. This is the book on which the film Cabaret is based. I remember that the film made quite a stir when it came out and has continued to be one of those films that gets talked about and referenced. I haven’t managed to actually sit down and watch it all the way through though. Maybe I’ll do so when I’ve read the book.
I have just read the author’s introduction and have learnt that it is a fictional account but that one of the characters is called Christopher Isherwood. So that’s quite an interesting start before I’ve even turned a page! I’ll be trying to work out whether this is really the author we are dealing with or not.
